Important Factors to consider.
With the recent unprecedented power challenges in South Africa, it is important to understand the warranty and life expectancy of your battery.
Number of discharges and recharges (Cycle Life)
Eskoms load shedding schedules of up to four times per day and up to 4 hours duration and more in some instances, therefore the application is not standby but cyclic.
These daily load shedding conditions represent a cyclic application meaning a greater demand on the battery combined with shorter recharge times. The net result is a possible premature capacity loss of your battery.
The average life span for semi sealed wet lead acid batteries during infrequent power outages is 2 to 3 years.
During stage 4-6 Load shedding this is greatly reduced.
Insufficient recharge:
It is critically important that lead acid batteries be recharged FULLY within the shortest space of time.
A 105ah battery needs approximately 10 Hours to fully recharge @ 10ah and 5 Hours @ 20ah
We recommend that during stage 4-6 Load sheading you set the inverter to charge at 20ah if possible.
If using an Optimate/Ctek type charger we recommend a 10ah charger
